For Christmas, I got 500 grams of Shapelock, which I have just barely gotten around to playing with. Last night at Sean's house for Hack Week, we discussed the shortcomings of the PS3 controller. One of my gripes is that getting your middle fingers and the triggers makes my hands cramp up, and feels unnatural. I just need to be able to have my fingers where they would be naturally, and still be able to use them for buttons.
Enter the Shapelock. This afternoon, the kitchen became a plastics foundry as I heated, cut, shaped, and cooled plastic extensions to my PS3 controller. The aftermath pictures can be found on my shiny new Flickr account here. I'm about to test it in a real world environment tonight at the last night of Hack Week during some crazy Warhawkin'. From the fool of the controller alone though, I'll be keeping the idea, but reworking the method for actually shaping the pieces, and changing how they attach (it's a little unelegant now).
Update: Last night, I gave the trigger modifications a little live testing in Warhawk. The second one I crafted stayed on the whole night, and worked out really well. The first one I fabbed actually fell off 45 minutes in, which was a disappointment. The thing I noticed is that the one that fell off was a bit thinner, so I'm going to make a new one that has more substance to it. Overall, the experiment was a success, and I will be keeping these trigger modifications.

I thought this was going to be about some kind of SSD for the PS3 to make up for its insufficient amount of RAM. GNOME kind of chokes on it, and xfce, well, suffice it to say I don't really care for it much.
